Definition of इत् [it]
A good illustration to understand इत् [it] is - a user's manual
- The user's manual comes along with a product.
- The user's manual tells you how to make use of the product.
- Only the product is make use of. Not the user's manual. At the time of the use of the product, the user's manual is kept away.
In the same manner,
- इत् [it] comes along with Maheshvarasutras, root verbs, suffixes, etc.
- इत् [it] tells you how to make use of those sutras, root verbs, suffixes, etc.
- इत् [it] is kept away when those sutras, root verbs, suffixes, etc. are in use.
For example,
- A root verb शी [śī] comes with an इत् [it] letter, which is ङ् [ṅ]. Thus the root verb comes as शीङ् [śīṅ] .
- The ङ् [ṅ] as इत् [it] tells you "when you add verbal suffixes to this root verb, the type of the verbal suffix should be the type "A","
- When the root verb is used, the ङ् [ṅ] as the इत् [it] is removed.

So lucidly explained. Thanks
