Derivation of अध्यात्मम् and आध्यात्मिक, आधिभौतिक, आधिदैविक


लौकिकविग्रहः
आत्मानम् अधिकृत्य, आत्मनि इति अध्यात्मम् ।

अलौकिकविग्रहः
आत्मन् + ङि + अधि

आत्मन् with 7th case ending and the word अधि in the sense of 7th case are compounded by the sutra 2.1.006 अव्ययं विभक्तिसमीपसमृद्धिव्यृद्ध्यर्थाभावात्ययासम्प्रतिशब्दप्रादुर्भावपश्चाद्यथाऽ‌ऽनुपूर्व्ययौगपद्यसादृश्य- सम्पत्तिसाकल्यान्तवचनेषु । ~ सुप् सुपा समासः अव्ययीभावः

The अव्यय word which is अधि in the sense of विभक्ति (7th case) is compounded with another सुबन्त, and is given a संज्ञा (term) समास, as well as अव्ययीभाव.

By getting समास-संज्ञा, प्रातिपदिक-संज्ञा is given by 1.2.46 कृत्तद्धितसमासाश्च । ~ प्रातिपदिकम्

आत्मन् + अधि 
By having प्रातिपदिक-संज्ञा, any सुप्-प्रत्यय inside is subject to लुक्-elision by 2.4.71 सुपो धातुप्रातिपदिकयोः । ~ लुक्

उपसर्जन-संज्ञा is given to अधि by 1.2.43 प्रथमानिर्दिष्टं समास उपसर्जनम् ।
    
अधि +  आत्मन्
उपसर्जन is to be पूर्वपद in समास by 2.3.30 उपसर्जनं पूर्वम् ।

अध्यात्मन्
यण्-सन्धि by 6.1.77 इको यणचि । ~ संहितायाम्

सपुंसक status is given to अव्ययीभावसमास by 2.1.18 अव्ययीभावश्च । ~ सपुंसम्
अव्यय-संज्ञा is given to अव्ययीभावसमास by 1.1.41 अव्ययीभावश्च । ~ अव्ययम्

अध्यात्मन् + टच्
अन्-ending अव्ययीसमास is subject to टच् in the sense of its own (स्वार्थे) by 5.4.108 अनश्च । ~ टच् तद्धिताः समासान्ताः अव्ययीभावे

ट् is इत् by 1.3.7 चुटू । ~ उपदेशे इत् प्रत्ययस्य आदिः
च् is इत् by 1.3.3 हलन्त्यम्। ~ उपदेशे इत्
These इत्s are subject to लोप-elision by 1.3.9 तस्य लोपः ।

अध्यात्म् + अ
टि (a portion staring from the last vowel, defined by 1.1.63 अचोऽन्त्यादि टि ।) of न्-ending भ-संज्ञक अङ्ग is subject to लोप-elision when तद्धित-प्रत्यय follows, by 6.4.144 नस्तद्धिते । ~ भस्य टेः लोपः

अध्यात्म
This is again प्रातिपदिक, being ending with तद्धित-प्रत्यय by 1.2.46 कृत्तद्धितसमासाश्च । ~ प्रातिपदिकम्


--- Up to this point is the process of making समास, with समासान्त-तद्धित-प्रत्यय.
Now, to use in a language, प्रातिपदिक, nominal base, has to be declined by addition of nominal suffix, सुप्-प्रत्यय.

अध्यात्म + सुँ etc
After प्रातिपदिक, सुप्-प्रत्यय is to be suffixed by 4.1.2 स्वौजसमौट्छस्टाभ्याम्भिस्ङेभ्याम्भ्यस्ङसिभ्याम्भ्यस्ङसोसाम्ङ्योस्सुप् । ~ ङ्याप्प्रातिपदिकात् प्रत्ययः परश्च

Being अव्यय, लुक्-elision of the सुप्-प्रत्यय is प्राप्त, applicable by 2.4.82 अव्ययादाप्सुपः । ~ लुक्, but negated by this अपवाद, exception, 2.4.83 नाव्ययीभावादतोऽम्त्वपञ्चम्याः ।

अध्यात्म + अम्
Not only the negation of the लुक्-elision, but also the substitution of अम् in the place of सुप् is ordained by the same sutra 2.4.83 नाव्ययीभावादतोऽम्त्वपञ्चम्याः ।

अध्यात्मम्
पररूपसन्धि by 6.1.97 अतो गुणे । ~  पररूपम् पूर्वपरयोः एकः संहितायाम्


---Now, from the प्रातिपदिक "अध्यात्म". a new प्रातिपदिक can be made.

अध्यात्म + ठञ्
In the sense of  "being in the sense of ~ (तत्र भवः)", a तद्धित-प्रत्यय ठञ् is suffixed by (वार्त्तिकम्) अध्यात्मादेष्ठञ् ।.
In short, the adverbial word अध्यात्म is made into adjective by doing this operation.

ञ् is इत् by 1.3.3 हलन्त्यम्। ~ उपदेशे इत्
The इत् is subject to लोप-elision by 1.3.9 तस्य लोपः ।

अध्यात्म + इक
ठ is replaced by इक by 7.3.50 ठस्येकः ।

आध्यात्म + इक
The first vowel of the अङ्ग takes वृद्धि when तद्धित-प्रत्यय which is ञित् (a प्रत्यय which as ञ् as इत्) or णित् follows, by 7.2.117 तद्धितेष्वचामादेः । ~ वृद्धिः अङ्गस्य ञ्णिति

आध्यात्म् + इक
The last letter of अङ्ग is subject to लोप-elision when अवर्ण or इवर्ण-ending भ-संज्ञक-अङ्ग is followed by इ or तद्धित्त-प्रत्यय, by 6.4.148 यस्येति च । ~ भस्य तद्धिते लोपः

In the same manner, अव्ययीभावसमासs such as अधिभूतम्, अधिदेवम् in the sense of "in terms of beings", "in terms of deities", respectively, are made.
When they are to suffixed ठञ्, one more वृद्धि process takes place.

आधिभूत + इक
आधिभौत + इक
7.3.20 अनुशतिकादीनां च । ~ पूर्वपदस्य च वृद्धिः

आधिभौतिक is the final प्रातिपदिक form.
Being an adjective, declension is according to the gender and number of the noun. In feminine, टाप् is to be suffixed by 4.1.4 अजाद्यतष्टाप् । ~ स्त्रियाम् ङ्याप्प्रातिपदिकात्
E.g., आधिभौतिका अशान्तिः

Similarly, आधिदैविक is made.
